Gardening Info
Gardening information sheets are provided for each Pennsylvania Harvest of the Month (PA HOM) vegetable or fruit item. These information sheets are intended to provide guidance to those interested in planting PA HOM items in school, home, or community gardens.
Soil testing is often recommended prior to planting. Soil test kits are often available at garden centers. This service is also offered through Penn State Extension. Additional information about this service can be found
here.
Penn State Master Gardeners are also available to answer questions about soil testing, growing vegetables, plant selection, pruning fruit trees, common plant diseases, insect identification, lawn care, and more. Contact information for your county’s Master Gardener can be found
here.
